Workers cottage major renovation North St #2
We took a circa 1915 workers cottage, 2 bedroom 1 very old bathroom, and turned it into a stylish 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom family home. This renovation involved moving and lifting the original cottage to build under, and lots of compromise - council DA required us to keep the front exterior lattice, but did let us build an ensuite into the verandah behind it. The colour scheme was bold and elegant, with striking accents of gold against contrasting dark blues. The buyer feedback was 'love, love, love' and the house sold quickly. House renovation under $30,000
This project was to update a house for sale - the area was burgeoning and buyers where paying good money for modern houses. This house had already had a major kitchen renovation a few years back, as well as a repaint and new carpets, what really made this house feel dated was the bathrooms and front facade. We completed redesigned the main bathroom to make it feel modern and luxe, using soft colours, custom vanities and beautiful tiles. We used the same palette to completely renovate the ensuite, powder room and laundry. We then turned our attention to exterior, painting the rendered house and the front fences. With these updated, the house attracted huge interest and multiple offers where made at the first open house.
Unit Refurbishment under $10,000
This project was to freshen up a dated investment unit for sale. The budget was limited and needed to include staging for sale. There was so much we could do, but in focusing on the items that potential buyers would value, we focused on: 1. Full repaint of the whole unit 2. New carpets to bedrooms 3. New air conditioning unit (the old yellow one against the new white paint had to go!) 4. New light fittings and fans 5. New cooktop 6. Staging furniture
Infill Development in Inner-City Brisbane
Our next project is what’s called an infill development. An infill development basically means building on underutilised land. You fill in the gaps in existing developments. We wanted to build beautiful, unboring houses (not units), within a 5km radius of the CBD. We set out looking for small houses on big blocks, in zonings that allowed subdivision and additional development. So long story short, we took all the expert advice we could get, we settled on the property, and we started planning to renovate the cottage into a four-bedroom house and build two four-bedroom terrace-style townhouses. Then, as luck would have it, we also bought the neighbouring property! So this project is now two DAs, two character houses, and four townhouses. STATUS - RENOVATION OF THE TWO HOUSES HAS BEGUN.
Styling and Staging Boutique Accommodation
On completion of our West End renovation, we decided to turn it into boutique holiday accommodation. As passionate travellers, we wanted to create luxe accommodation with soul, for discerning travellers and trippers who want more than a beige hotel-room experience. We wanted to create a space that is relaxing away from the hustle, cool away from the heat, and calm space where the sky and trees could be enjoyed, all just a short walk from the city. Our guests have loved our space. They have all appreciated our attention to detail and honoured us with rave reviews. STATUS - SUCCESS! WELCOME TO ZEN IN WEST END.
